R4-C.3: Advanced Cargo Screening
ثبت نشده
چکیده
A challenging problem in security is the screening of cargo. The greater size, density, and complexity of cargo makes CT-based sensing especially diffi cult. These problems are compounded when sensing geometry is limited. In this project, we aim to develop accurate physics-based models of X-ray cargo sensing and corresponding model-based image reconstruction methods for limited angle measurements based on compressed sensing for improved image quality.

Modelling and Analysing Cargo Screening Processes: A Project Outline
The efficiency of current cargo screening processes at sea and air ports is unknown as no benchmarks exists against which they could be measured. Some manufacturer benchmarks exist for individual sensors but we have not found any benchmarks that take a holistic view of the screening procedures assessing a combination of sensors and also taking operator variability into account. Just adding up r...
متن کاملAccelerator-Driven Neutron Source for Cargo Screening
Advanced neutron interrogation systems for screening sea-land cargo containers for shielded special nuclear materials (SNM) require a high-yield neutron source to achieve the desired detection probability, false alarm rate, and throughput. The design of an accelerator-driven neutron source is described that utilizes the D(d,n)He reaction to produce a forward directed beam of up to 8.5 MeV neutr...
متن کاملMicrotubule-binding protein doublecortin-like kinase 1 (DCLK1) guides kinesin-3-mediated cargo transport to dendrites.
In neurons, the polarized distribution of vesicles and other cellular materials is established through molecular motors that steer selective transport between axons and dendrites. It is currently unclear whether interactions between kinesin motors and microtubule-binding proteins can steer polarized transport. By screening all 45 kinesin family members, we systematically addressed which kinesin...
متن کاملGene encoding the group B streptococcal protein R4, its presence in clinical reference laboratory isolates & R4 protein pepsin sensitivity.
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES R proteins were first identified by Lancefield in group B Streptococcus (GBS) as resistant to trypsin at pH8 and sensitive to pepsin at pH2. The R4 protein found predominantly in type III and some type II and V invasive isolates conforms to these criteria. The Rib protein, although structurally and epidemiologically similar to R4, was reported as resistant to both protea...
متن کاملInterdicting nuclear material on cargo containers using knapsack problem models
This paper introduces a framework for screening cargo containers for nuclear material at security stations throughout the United States using knapsack problem, reliability, and Bayesian probability models. The approach investigates how to define a system alarm given a set of screening devices, and hence, designs and analyzes next-generation security system architectures. Containers that yield a...
